Relax requirements?? Wont happen. They wont stop the solar crap on our farm lands either. One day we will be buying our food from other country's, and the US wont have a say of what chemicals they use on the crops or what they feed the cattle or hogs. Our cancer rate is far too high as it is. Want to talk about shipping shortages and empty shelves? Control the food and you control the people.

The UAW is a joke and would get steam rolled. It's 2023, they are about as relevant as a VCR, IMO.

Sad to see, but the opportunity was there for an American company to buy it. Apparently, they didn't see enough short-term gain to do it while the Japanese take more of a long-term approach to most things.

No one else was willing to pay double the company worth. Foreigners did it gladly and we are stupid for letting them.

Publicly traded company. Anyone else in the public could buy it also. They don't see the value in it but someone else does. It is what it is.

Exactly....out of their league on this one. Go get me a cup of coffee and then wait in the lobby.

Take what you want from this…

The country of Japan is working to secure production capabilities of what it seems necessary for the future. Secure=owning manufacturing in a facility outside China or other similarly controlled area.

The country of Japan purchased JSR which is/was a company founded in Japan that’s considered a leader in microprocessor manufacturing. They have many divisions doing other things but the main entity is microprocessors. This happened over the summer and is just another instance of Japan trying to control its future minimizing Chinese manufacturing requirements. Maybe they are seeing things in the east that we are either not seeing or are ignoring.

The Japanese definitely know China is bad and not to be trusted. Just look at the size of Japan and how close China and North Korea are to them. I think that Japan buying U.S. Steel is not that bad and it will hopefully make it even better. Jobs still kept in America.

Will still be a good product I’m sure. The Japanese know how to make quality stuff as good as anywhere in the world.

If US steel was a hugely profitable business, it wouldn't be able to be bought. As for the future company not wanting to update or add anything, why do you think that foreign companies are able to buy it. The present company hasn't made upgrades and can't afford it now.

Someone please tell Barney. He quoted US Steel when he and Andy visited the Esquire Club in Raleigh
