Are you thinking about getting a new smoker or grill

If so now’s the time for you to do your homework. Companies will be coming out with their Black Friday deals before long. Narrow your choices down and subscribe to their notifications so you won’t lose out. Sometimes they even give special deals to those who subscribe. Just be aware that you may not receive them until after Christmas due to volume of orders but you will get some good deals. Also make sure folks know you always need new tongs, gloves and other equipment

Them chickens look good. I normally do the charcoal on one side, chicken on the other for that, but it looks like that center ring makes for a more even cook.

Vortex for 1/2 chickens, haven't done that one yet. I've got 2 chickens cut in half going on my 18" WSM in about 30 minutes.

Is that a WSM with a smaller charcoal ring in it?

Judging by the flip up ends on the grate, I'd say it's the 22" kettle.

The vortex will make the crispiest chicken legs &/wings. We only season them with salt & pepper.

I’ve got an old Vision that’s fired up right now awaiting a couple of ribeyes shortly. She’s almost there. When she hits 500 degrees, I’ll throw those ribeyes on for about 5 minutes each side and we’ll be eating good in the neighborhood!

They are expensive but worth every penny. Check often on their Facebook page used ones show up for sale. I have two Stretch models. About 10 years ago I posted on here about my first one. It was on a July 4. It was partly cloudy no rain. I was in the chicken house I heard a huge bang. I just knew the 500 gallon propane tank on the incentartor had blown up. I ran out and it was fine. My wife and daughter came out of the house we knew it was a bolt of lightning. I checked the normal things it strikes and all was ok. 30 minutes later my daughter calls me and said the smoker was on fire. I assumed it may have been a small grease fire. I got to house to find the door to the smoker was open and a full raging fire was as in place. I rolled it away from the house and got the door shut and the vents closed. The lighting had hit the top of the smoker and knocked the door open. I had 4 briskets in it snd they were all in flames. I knew the insurance company would want to see it like it was but I didn’t expect anything to come from it. I told my wife that all the seasoning had been burnt off and if I didn’t clean it up right then it would rust. I sent my daughter to the store to get a gallon of vegetable oil and a bunch of chicken thighs. While she was gone I scraped it out and washed it out. Mind you the fire box was still full and burning. After I had washed it out I opened the vents and let it come back up to temperature. Coated it down with oil and let it run until I got the chicken preped. Put the thighs on and let her roll. She held temp great and it was some of the best chicken ever. The insurance company came and looked at it and paid for a new one in full. Yep I’m sold on the cooket
