2001 merc 175 EFI - what prop to get?

    Serial # 0T398012

Hey guys, new to bass boating. Just got my first boat last weekend and the prop is scuffed as hell. I believe it is a 24 pitch tempest.
I am extremely new to boating and not very mechanical.

The motor is on an 01 Ranger 461 VS (19ft).

My question is - what PROP TO PAD should I have for my boat?

Some researching has informed that center of the prop shaft has to be a certain distance below the boat to assist in getting on plane.

Let me know if more information is needed to assist me!! Thanks so much in advance!

start center of prop to pad about 2 1/2 below
if that prop is scuffed repair it.
To out of balance will hurt the lower unit seals

more like 3.75 to 4 in on that combo, start at 4 and raise 1/4 in at time to find the sweet spot. When reach the point that rpm increases and speed does not it is to high
After proper pitch prop is selected, the one that gets the motor very near the rev limit about 5800 rpm. Adjust pvs plugs to achieve 35 to 3900 rpm during hole shot before nose over

As suggested by Leon, start at 4” and go up from there. Keep an eye on rpm, you may find you need a 25 tempest. A tempest runs well on that hull.
