Question Lube for remote drain plug

For you guys with the remote drain plugs, what are you using for lube?

I know florite reccomends molykote 55 but where I am its $80+ shipping for a tiny tube.

I found Aladin magic lube 2, which seems like a similar product at a fraction of the cost so I'm wondering if anyone has found something other than molykote that works well.

    Thanks

Vaseline will work if you're in a pinch and need something right away. But personally I use Mercury 24C which is a great marine grease for just about everything on your boat.

A decent lithium based marine grease will work fine.

I've been using olive oil with no regrets. Better than all else I've tried.

Just hit mine yesterday with Danco faucet grease (O-ring friendly).

I have had very good success with Dielectric grease. I also close the drain plug once I get back from the lake. The Dielectric grease will not damage the rubber o ring as some other types of lubricants may.

Do you just lube the "O" ring?

This is what I have been using since 2017 without any issues. I think I replaced the o-ring once just because, not for any reason.

Pretty much any Swimming Pool O ring lube will work. I've been using this for many years with great success.

    Carmex lip balm.
I found that keeping the drain closed while traveling keeps the o ring clean and lubed. I open it right before I put it in the garage.

if the rubber is not the correct compound vaseline will soften and erode the o ring
