USA Impeller Replacement Kit Part #

    2010 - Merc. 250 ProXS, Serial # 1B786981.

Will kit 96148A8 work for my application?

Been a long while since I replaced one.

    Thanks, Don!

No sir- that's a totally different water pump.

Several listed kits, depending on whether you need housing or not, need driveshaft seal carrier or not, etc.

If you don't need that seal carrier, the cost-effective ones are:

    817275A08 (kit WITH housing)

8M0100526 (or) 8M0100527 (Quicksilver / Mercury) Kit WITHOUT housing.

    Greetings again

What is the line in front of the shift shaft coupler? I assume its water pressure reading? Mine snapped and there was no coupling to disconnect like show n Sherm's old example.
Mine had some sort of threaded in coupler rather than hose/bid etc..
    Thanks in advance

Here's mine. I cleaned it all up and put the plastic piece back in the line. Will it stay, or do I need a new one

Maybe I can help. That’s your speedometer hose and that fitting you are holding has a name that I can’t remember, but there is a plastic fitting on top that you depress. It releases small metal fingers that hold your speedo tube and then you pull the speedo tube out. No need to unscrew it from gearcase. To put it back in just do the reverse or I think you may be able just to push the speedo tube back in.

Be sure and follow the instructions for replacing water pump in the FAQ’s at top of page by Sherm. You have to get the splines for the drive shaft lined up and……also……the shift shaft lined up. The driveshaft will line up first, then the shift shaft. Ounce the driveshaft lines up the case will slide up a bit further and you reach around to front of gearcase where the shift shaft is exposed and wiggle the shift shaft in place. Yes, a helper is nice plus the gearcase is heavy. Don’t try to force the gearcase with the four nuts and bolts. If you can’t do it by hand you prolly don’t have it lined up correctly. If you force it by torque, prolly breaky something.
