    Those of you who have lifted trucks?

    I am considering a lift for my 4x4 and wanted to ask if you have trouble seeing the trailer particularly when transitioning from the parking lot to the ramp, and do you have to adjust your mirrors as a result? Or do you just get it lined up and backup knowing eventually the trailer will come back into view.

    New truck has a backup camera still getting used to it. My old truck it would only disappear until the rear wheels got onto the ramp.

    Biggest problems with lifting. Is front end parts don’t last. Mpg drops.

    What’s a few thousand for a lift kit, spending more money on fuel and front end repairs when your truck looks totally Bad Azz and other drivers will have to look up to you.

    When you punch that accelerator and hear the roar that is enhanced by the height then see that big cloud of black smoke in the rear view mirror the rush will be priceless.

    Put tow mirrors on it for a wider field of view. Helps whether you have a lift or not. I hate backing a truck with standard sized mirrors now.

    My favorite is how they fail to re-adjust their headlights properly when lifting so when they are coming down the road or driving behind me all I get to see is their lights blinding me.

    To answer your question...if you back with your mirrors and don't have a narrow boat/trailer, then a lift should not affect your ability to see the trailer in the mirrors. If you are a look behind you over the tailgate kind of guy, yes you will lose sight of it, especially when it starts down the ramp and you are still on level ground. How much depends on how high you go. You will need a significant drop hitch when you lift. Depending on trailer configuration, truck, and the hitch, this may allow you to drop the tailgate when backing. Using you mirrors is best.

    I don't notice any issue with the bass boat. The jon boat trailer, for get about it, by the time I can see the trailer it's jack knifed.

    This answer. I could function fine backing, but adding tow mirrors made a nice difference.

    Also lmfao at all the lifted truck hate. A lot of similar things could be said about the boats around here. Need vs want. Also if you do a proper and quality lift it will be better than stock and just as reliable.

    Sounds a lot like putting in lithium batteries, and adding a bunch of trolling motor goodies and 12 inch screens to the front of your boat.
