While you are at it, repack your wheel bearings and grease seals. Inspect rotors as well.
Been there, done that.
Latest update ,... Installed new brake lines, calipers with pads, bled the the whole new system. I now have brakes that WORK ! Installation was very easy, as I never did any of this before. Replaced the same brand that were on trailer. (UFP)
Great to hear! Forgot to mention, hope you put some blue loctite on your caliper mounting bolts? I found out the hard way, when one of mine backed out and caused some damage.
yes I did , followed the directions .
I even purchased a torque wrench to set the bolts to 17lbs per instructions . Now , all Ihave to do is wait for storm to pass by over the weekend ,… go to Maine again next week .
Still dealing with the BS with trailer, new calipers , brake lines. Now gettin some "drips" here and there. Rechecked all the fittings, still some sloooow drips. Shoulda ,coulda used plumbers tape the first time .UGH
Seriously Marky1, I have never used any tape, putty or whatever on brake lines, fittings, etc! They are made to not need it! What EXACTLY are the leaks coming from??
At the the bottom of caliper , where brake line connects . Not really “dripping “ more of a very slow seeping . Tightened them a bit more , seems to be less seeping .
Be careful to not "overtorque" the b nuts on the lines. It could cause the flare on the line to be damaged.
Will keep an eye on them .
Just "weeping" a little bit .
If fluid can get out, air can get in.
So, you have new calipers, new brake lines and you still have leaks? Please post a pic of the "weeping" you are experiencing.
Will check them in the AM
At the connection where the lines go to caliper ( brass block fitting on bottom)
