What's a good starting point for prop shaft height ? Hanging a new 250R in a month or so.

1in above pad assuming sport master lower unit. Mine liked 1-1.5 above depending on fuel load. No power poles on mine. Bravo props

That all depends on what year XB21 ya have. The lip was changed I think in 2017 (don't hold me to that though) which allowed running more setback and propshaft height of 1"+.

For instance, mine is a 2013 with original lip or maybe I should say a larger lip with factory 8 1/2" setback. Running at +/- 1/2" to 5/8" above pad could still maintain around 20 PSI.

Had my lip trimmed by Mr. Allison at that years rally (he was offering the mod for a small fee that rally) and later replace the CMC junk for a Hydrodynamics 10" setback hydraulic. I can now run 1" above all day safely.

    That about sums it up
    2013 Allison XB-21 BasSport Pro
    2023 Mercury Racing 300R
    Bravo FS 30P
