How do you guys take off these rollers?

I'm trying to replace my drain plug but this roller is kind of in the way. How do I remove this roller? There's no bolts, both ends are rounded like in the pictures.

I’m thinking those are just pressed on caps. Before removing its best to have a couple of new ones on hand as you’ll probably destroy the old ones prying them off.

Should be able to remove one of the caps and slide the rod out the other end.
Those caps can be a PIA to remove--- odds are you will ruin it. If you have a Dremel with cut off wheel you can use it to cut the two little tangs off that act as teeth to hold it on.

Those are a PIA to take off. I use a pair of water pump pliers and wiggle it back and forth while pulling out. They're a one time use so you'll have to get a new one or drill the shaft near the end and use a washer and cotter pin to replace it.

I would just leave the boat sitting far enough back on the trailer for the roller not to be in the way. Connect the strap good and snug, make sure the engine is tilted, and ease over to side of the ramp area and replace the plug. Easy....pleasy!

Easiest way to remove the cap is drill a hole in it, take a punch and knock the bar out. Most auto parts stores will have new ones.

Unscrew and remove the 2 strainers and you will probably have enough room w/out removing the roller.
