    New Champion

After years of looking I finally brought home a 2006 188 Elite that looks to be in excellent condition. Has a 200 Optimax that ran strong. I think it was well worth the 12 hour round trip even if my wife didn't. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as I get more into it

And it kept getting cheaper. It wasn't in a good area for bass boats and he was tired of the tire kickers and no shows. I had to do a lot of convincing that i.was.a serious buyer. Even texted him a picture of the cashiers check.

I know the answer is in here but I searched through 20 pages and only found 1 recommendation for a 25 Tempest. It currently has a Fury 24 P that isn't in the best shape.

Here is a picture of the wheels. I'm not sure where he got them and I couldn't find a name on them. He replaced the hubs, bearings and the rims and tires before he put it up for sale.

Took it out and ran it the other day. Took a close look afterwards underneath and noticed a few hull blisters and a gouge mostly covered up by the trailer bunks. Guess I was too impressed by the shape of the top cap and how it ran. Expensive lesson learned. Took it by C&O Marine which is only an hour away and had them look.at some pictures. Could be anywhere from $1500 to.$4500 if they end up doing the entire bottom of the hull.

Finally about to get it back. Took 3 weeks to get it dried out so they could get the repairs done.
I picked up an A45 Tempest 25 today.

    Nice looking Champ.
    ---
I bought my [ 1985 Champ / Merc carb 175 / trailer with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires ] from original owner in 1989. While BFG Radial T/A tires are not 'trailer tires', BFG Radial T/A tires have been on this trailer for 34-38 years (Champ is 38-years old). I keep trailer spare inside Tahoe, due to tire installer guy told me that the trailer spare tire carrier (round metal bars) wasn't good for the sidewall.
    ---
I bought a new EFI and A45 25P Tempest in 1997 (still on Champ). Had to use a flat trim tab anode, due to prop will hit trim tab anode that sticks down.
    ---
There was a service bulletin concerning A45/A46 Tempest and Trophy props. Google search for >> tempest trophy service bulletin 27-APR-1998Crowley Marine <<

I've used the forward bushing and 100ft-lbs on my A45 25P Tempest for many years.
