I caught a bunch of fish last week while flipping a Beaver, but I lost several, including a couple big fish, and that’s not good. I was using a 4/0 Hack Attack Flipping Hook and snelling it. That’s my normal flipping set up. But, after losing a few bites, I switched to a 3/0 and 4/0 Superline EWG hook and didn’t lose any fish after that. I’m thinking that I need to stick with the Superline EWG for my Beaver fishing. BTW, I run the hook all the way through the Beaver, let it lay in the groove between the halves of the bait, and skin hook the point.

I have tried many different ones and the gamagkatsu (sp) Aaron martens finesse heavy cover has been my favorite hands down. Perfect diameter and great keeper for flipping baits
I use a vmc heavy flip hook in 4/0 or the trokar tube hook.
Mustad 38104 ultra - point.
The Gammy Superline EWG in 4/0 works well for me.
I’ve lost a bunch of fish on straight hooks whether it’s a beaver or whatever plastic. I always opt for the appropriate sized EWG now and don’t lose many fish unless there’s just a funky bite going on. EWG hooks allow the bait to get out of the way of the hook point better in my opinion resulting in more hook up’s. Only exception for me is if I’m fishing a very small finesse worm on an eggbeater, then I’ll use a Gamakatsu skipgap hook.
I like the Hayabusa FPP
I like the KVD Grip Pin in 4/0 for just about all my soft plastics. If I’m punching, I like the Hack Attack Flippin’ on a snell.
I like a 4/0 ewg, unless im using a snell, the. Its a trokar 4/0 flippin

If you are just worried about keeping the bait rig properly than the Trokar TK-130 mentioned above is great. My tournament partner uses it and has great success but tears through a few more baits than I do using the standard Trokar EWG and I don't see a significant difference in hook up rate unless we are in really heavy cover (i.e. flooded green bushes).
Owner Wide Gap Plus. 4/0 or 5/0. I use them for beaver style baits and tubes.

These are a good choice and I still use them if I want to tie a snell knot but I have had issues with baits that are tapered and do not have as much material at their tip. For those I like the hooks that have screw locks like the owner hooks. Those are also needle point and do not cut up the air as much as the Trojan hooks.
