Just got the call from my friend's wife, heart is too far gone, no operation would help. He has lived a full life, in his 70s and was a Vietnam chopper pilot as well as a commercial pilot for years until retirement. His first wife passed away from cancer and I am sure he is looking forward to reuniting. He is a little rough around the edges but he has said he is right with God and is not afraid of dying. Nothing like your own mortality staring you in the face to make a body think about what's really important in life. We all have to cross that threshold, some sooner than others, here in this life we are busily planning our retirement and focusing on the present, but each man is responsible for where they stand with God when death finds you. Not many people get 2 weeks to set accounts straight...something to think about.
