    Chatterbait rod

What are people using for chatterbait. I have never used a glass rod and not sure I would like a heavier rod vs graphite. What is everyone using?

I threw a 1/2 oz. + trailer yesterday all afternoon with a Daiwa BLX LG 7'4" MH. First time ever using it for that as I prefer a faster rod for Bladed Jigs and it worked extremely well. 17 strikes, 17 fish landed. Brian.

Yeppers, this rod is still high on my list as an add to pair up with my Evergreen Heracles EG Swimming for moving baits like chatters, spinnerbaits, big topwaters, lipless and bigger cranks. I like braid and a longer leader on this type taper/length/power.

Some of my favorite rods for chatterbaits are Daiwa Tatula elite 7’2” universal, 7’4” Randy H, bladed jig/big top water… those are regular action (round bend) mod action basically. Then the 7’3” multiple purpose. Those would be my favorite. Lots of great options!!

St. Croix legend tournament bass rip-n-chatter! It's a fiberglass carbon hybrid. With the combo of SC IV+ and iAct glass you get a rod that has a nice parabolic bend like glass, but is light and sensitive like a good carbon fiber rod. I was never a glass fan, but these iAct glass models are perfect for anyone that's not sold on 100% glass rods.

    I use a Dobyns 705CB glass
I use the 705CB Compsite for Sq. Bills.
There about the same weight, The glass was to stiff for the Sq. bills
    But it's perfect for Chatterbaits

Kistler Argon 7’3” light medium heavy with moderate fast action. Throws 3/8s and 1/2 oz well and keeps them pinned pretty good.

How slow is the action on this rod? Is it moderate like a crankbait rod or more like a regular action JDM rod that feels fast but then loads deep into the blank once loaded?

That 7 4 Howell is the bomb for chatterbaits. I have tried many others but it is just perfect in my hands.

Powell endurance 7' MH cranking rod is the best chatterbait rod i've found, and i've tried more than i'd like to admit.

I use the 73 multiple purpose and love it. I also use the P5 Madbull. Those Tatulas can probably be had for a bargain now.
