HDS 8 Gen 1 moving to 9 Touch

getting a hand me down from my dad. Upgrading my gen 1 hds 8 to a touch 9.

Just curious if they use the same connections. I have a LSS2 running the 8 now and normal sonar and power connections.

Does the 9 require a different side scan connection or does it run through LSS2 also.

Need more info. What generation of touch 9. There are Gen 2, Gen 3, Carbon, Live, and Live Pro. Also, an LSS2 requires a StructureScan HD module if connected to a non-Touch unit. StructureScan HD was Gen 2 of Lowrance sidescanning. But you say your HDS 8 is Gen 1. Suspect you have an LSS1 with StructureScan Module Gen 1. But with the info you have provided, there isn't much help we can provide. In summary we need:
Actual type of Sidescan
Generation of Touch 9
Any network cables currently in use

It currently is all networked together through the lss2
not 100% sure of cables

just wordering if it is as easy as plugging in 9 where the 8 is or if I will possible need new components.

If the touch is a Gen 2 just swap it in and leave evert the same.

Would still be ok. You could get rid of the Structurescan module and connect the transducer directly to the unit. Or just leave everything as it is and swap the Gen 2 or 3 in.
