    Fer the Birds

Literally…….. I’ve kept my feeders well supplied during this cold snap and, with the prolonged freezing temperatures, I put out a water bucket with a heating element so the birds have some water. They don’t seem to be finding it, though. The water has stayed liquid even when we had temps in the single digits. I put a couple of sticks in the bucket so the birds would have something to light on, but still doesn’t seem to encourage them any.

Merry Christmas to all. I’m very thankful for my health and family.

The cardinals just mob our feeder when it snows. Had 6 pairs at a time going after it yesterday.

We have been undersiege all weekend in the subfreezing temps.
Eastern bluebirds in droves, along with extra American goldfinches.
Fortunately, we've even enjoyed a few painted buntings as well.

Once it's warmed up for me, I'll go out and service everything.

I propose a mealworm subsidy. Man those things are expensive!

Wife said she had a Cardinal try it’s best to enter our cabin Saturday. She put out feed for them immediately. Their colors are amazingly bright this time of year for some reason.
