Hello,
Just mounted an 01 Opti 200hp on the '00 Basscat. Ive read that 2001 and younger can take the SC1000 or MercMonitor I believe it was?....but I was also told it can only take the older square version. Anyone have insight on this?

The older square unit is a Smartcraft System Monitor, a MercMonitor is a later, more comprehensive instrument. Double check your serial number, they are formatted digit, letter, 6 digits, the second character might be a "G". Don will be able to advise which Smartcraft instruments will work on your engine.

Definitely would have to be a System Monitor, or System Tach/Speed kit that utilized Version 3.0 or earlier (later versions often do not function well with these).

There is a system monitor for sale in the classifieds right now. No data cable though. I would try to find a NOS unit somewhere.

V2.21 will probably work for your setup (you'll need an appropriate Can-P Network and J-box with terminating resistors at each end). See Rhonda's post (at the top of the Forum)- she can set you up with what you will need.
