Buddy asked me if you could use a Gen 2 transducer on a Gen 4 unit? Wasn’t sure, other than the connections are the same. So I figured I’d pose the question.

What unit models?
What you asked is too incomplete to provide an accurate answer without writing a novel.
The connections are not the same for all DI units.

There are two G2N Helix 9 DI models:
Helix 9 CHIRP DI GPS G2N.
Helix 9 CHIRP MEGA DI GPS G2N.
There is one G4N Helix 9 DI model:
Helix 9 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G4N.
Both MEGA models have HW CHIRP as standard for 2D sonar.
The other one has 83/200 kHz as standard for 2D sonar.
When Minnkota came out with the built-in MDI transducer, the Helix 9 CHIRP DI GPS G2N got software to make it compatible.
So IF the software was updated AND the Connected Transducer setting is changed to Built-in HW+ MDI then he can use the MEGA DI+ transducer.

One more thing, attaching the XM 9 HW MDI T to his G2N will not give it + capability. + means more power.
