    Global fossil fuel consumption

From CNBC this morning, 10 years ago, 82% of energy consumption globally was using fossil fuels. Today, after trillions of investments and government subsidies, fossil fuels consumption has fallen all the way to only 81%…..

in 10 years energy consumption increased 12%, so it sounds like renewables and maybe nuclear made up the difference. Good. Maybe we should divert the trillions given to the fossil fuel industry to renewables and make even more progress.

If by giving trillions to fossil fuel companies you mean by going by the u s tax code. The tax code could always b changed by Congress.

The number spent was around $3.1 trillion on renewables. Just pissing into the wind.

The only reason it only fell this much is because of the FF required to manufacture the alternative energy.
Once all of these devices are in full production to reap the benefits, it'll be time to make new ones.
Maybe by then, we will see another 1% reduction.

The US oil and gas sector get billions in tax relief, not trillions. And if they took that away, you would probably be paying for it, and more, at the pump.

I don't understand why they can't say yes to all 3 in addition to existing energy? I get there are political talking points on all sides, but frankly the government is going to get involved on all fronts anyway so why don't they diversify now instead of trying to please one lobby?

Has the technology changed so that creation of cooling ponds and reservoirs are no longer needed? I'm thinking in particular of places like Lake Anna. That was a lot of area to flood.

I have owned Exon stock for many years. They are making it clear that they are getting out of the oil business. That alone must tell you something.
