i agree.. I used to love the Day 4s but after a while it just became repetitive. Now I just read the description first to see if it’s something that even relates to how I fish and if not, I just skip it. But that’s the way it’s been with normal BTL too ever since Jeffries left, I really liked Matt running the show by himself but now I just check to see who the guest is and that’ll dictate if I listen.

I get where he is coming from as far as his dream of getting on the Elites but the show has really turned since Mark retired. The shows with Hallman are some of the best because he has a different outlook on a lot of things fishing wise since he has been around for a while in the tournament scene. And he seems to me to just be a down to earth guy. Matt still seems to be lacking in a lot of areas. I mean till last year he didnt even know how to change a prop out while on the water. I get everyone has to learn but to me it seems like the show has really went in the wrong direction.
The Frank Scalish shows were pretty decent at first and I think that Frank is a heck of an angler but the shows are starting to lack quite a bit to the point that those shows i dont even listen to.
***agreed with the frank shows ~ I used to listen to a bunch of them now it’s just him regurgitating how many four to six pounders where he wrecked them on all the Thursday shows -I don’t know why but I’m not sure I believe him any more listening to his shows it sounds as if he’s the greatest fisherman on the planet and I’m not sure why he isn’t on the elite series…. Just my opinion otherwise seems like a nice guy

I'm tired of the Thursday's with Frank and stopped watching them. He is kind of a legend in his own mind and talks about how every time he goes out they were "slamming em"..... always on a Pradco lure. Just got very old and fast... 100 episodes into it, he's not fishing competitively so his well i think is kind of dry with stuff to share imo with relevant recent topics. But he got offered a job for some extra income and he does a decent job at what he was asked to do. Matt needs a co-anchor for the show imo. He's kind of like the funny weather man on the evening news of your local town. You like his weather forecasts but he's not the gift-of-gab person that controls a great conversation at a level that is non-geeky that the 80% like to follow.

I would like Matt to have a co-anchor. Matt just seems to take conversations into very narrow, deep, "geeky" levels that Mark Jefferies would prevent and kind of splash water on "Matthew" and bring him back to a common-man conversation.

But i think Jefferies can draw sponsors to BTL even if Matt is the anchor and as long as those sponsors keep coming, things will not change.

I would like to see Matt add Bradley or someone else as a full-time co-host... I like BTL and listen every day, but we lost a strong part of the dynamic when Mark stepped away from BTL...

People are good at different things. When Mark and Matt were together they really complimented one another well. Matt just needs another partner to compliment him. So far, he hasn't found that guy.

What did mark do well? Mark is an excellent entertainer, gatherer of information, story teller and is also excellent at interviewing. Mark also has a ton of energy. Matt is a fisherman who lives in the fishing industry and knows the behind the scenes tourney life. He is more by the book than off the cuff like Mark. Matt does things differently than Mark , which is sometimes interesting. Matt will find another guy that compliments him.

To me a lot of the guests or whoever they have on the show any more it seems more to me like Matt is digging for information for himself.
I like to hear the recaps that Matt and Hallman do but it seems like most times where there is a tournament guy on like an Elite guy or whoever it seems more like Matt asks questions for his own benifit.
Guess thats his thing to do because of what he is trying to do.

Matt needs to find a career. It’s not this show and it’s not his fishing. Franks ego is way too big.

Would you guys be at all interested in MJ doing this again? It was totally spur of the moment, and he is still very much retired retired from BTL, but enjoyed the interaction with everyone last night.

Perhaps call it, “Mark After Dark” or “MAD” for short?

Remember he has to qualify. Seems like he gets close then doesn't make it. Not even close this year. Maybe next year when all nine count he may make it. He has spent a lot of his or someones money trying to make it.

I would love to hear him tell a story where he’s not the hero, just like once. Even when his story starts with him struggling, you know at some point he’s going to figure it out and wreck em with a pradco or zoom lure.

Absolutely! I enjoyed that show even more than some of the recent interviews. It was just candid conversations and thoughts that felt genuine and had the feel of a late 90s late night radio show. Nostalgic feeling with current bass fishing topics

I agree... Some of the best podcasts etc I have seen are later in the evening just off the cuff deals. Smallmouth crush guy used to have some pretty entertaining ones. Granted he was smashing white claws but still they were entertaining.

Frank is a good dude but no one "wrecks them and smashes them" all the time. It gets old, it's like the guy you know who only tells you about the times he wins at the casino and never loses.

One of Frank's best shows were early in his tenure when he talked about boat props.

I agree and disagree with a lot of what's been said. I think Matt is a good interviewer and very intelligent, but like someone else said, the recorded shows are lacking. Some of his best shows since taking over have been ones that go off subject and end up lasting an hour and a half and include some very lively conversation. I still listen every day including Uncle Frank's Pradco Show on Thursday.

BTL is still easily my number one podcast on a daily basis, including Day Four with Frank. I enjoy the episodes just as much as I did when Mark was on. I agree the recorded shows can sometime not meet the usual energy the live shows do, but I appreciate Matt trying to ensure we have content when he is at the Opens. He has also said that work is being done to allow him to do the shows from the road. I think that will really elevate things to the next level and make the show better than it already is.

I think a show while he's on the road for the opens would be a hit. Him and the guys he travels with just sitting around at night rigging tackle and talking fishing could be a great show.
