I lower my jackplate when towing to reduce the mechanical advantage on the mounts.
Hydraulic jack plate?
Position it all the way down for trailering. Less stress on the components.
I always tow with my Hydraulic plate in the position that I prefer to run when fully loaded. That way if for some reason the Jackplate malfunctions you can still go fishing as normal with no issues.

Owners manual says all the way down so all the way down it is when I tow. They know a lot more about the product they make than I do. I figure it's best to follow their advice.
Thanks all!

I have a Bob's Action Jack and spoke with them and they told me put it all the way down. He said they recommend this not because towing it in a higher position will damage anything, but because the plate that slides will most likely get dirtier (road grime).

Mine is as far down as she kin go without tearing the rigging tube. Seems to bounce more when left high.
