    Stuck prop help

I just purchased a new to me boat with a 2016 250 SHO. I went to take the prop off to check for line and regrease the shaft but I can’t get the prop to budge. Anyone have any tips? I’ve tried using pb blaster with no success. My previous mercury the prop slid right off no problem.

Beat on the back side of each blade with a rubber dead blow hammer...

Thanks. That video shows the installation, I can't get my prop off the prop shaft. Are you saying beat on each blade while still on prop shaft?

Yes. You can take a rubber mallet from the back (boat side) with firm hits (not too hard) to loosen the prop and get it off the prop shaft.
Add some good marine grease when reinstalling and it should help eliminate this in the future.

I use a block of wood and a big hammer behind the prop blades to get mine off. Grease won't help... I have to do that procedure every time I take my prop off, no matter how much grease I use.

Replace your thrust washer and make sure it’s not over torqued.

Are you hitting the prop blades farther into the prop shaft or are you hitting from the other side trying to drive it off the prop shaft?

Hitting from the other side outwards to drive it off the prop shaft. You're tapping the blades close to the center point to avoid any damage.

Anyone have any other tips? I gave up last fall and am still trying to get the prop off. None of the stuff suggested has worked for me thus far.

I think a gear puller would work fine if you put the center on prop shaft and then can get the puller arms either thru the hub and grab the "vanes" or over the hub and grab the vent holes.

When you get the prop off and I'm sure will,I use anti seize in the place of grease.Your stuck prop problem will be solved.

You will mess the prop up first. Unless you are hitting it dead sideways, that prop shaft is tough. CJ

Maybe like a big screwdriver between the prop and gear case tap it with a hammer like a wedge that worked on my Evinrude.

I would never suggest anybody pry against the lower unit casing. It is weaker than the propeller and first to break

Block of wood and a big hammer to back side of prop blades. Hit it a couple whacks turn prop few more whacks. Keep doing that, it will come. I have to do it every time I take prop off.
