Puma STS 250 vs 300 question

Now that the Puma Sts has been around for a little while. I'd like to know how it does with a 250 vs 300. I'm sure some of you owners can give close numbers to what your averaging. Probably add what prop your running.
    1. Top speed (heard hole shot is not much of a difference)
    2. gas consumption
    3. Cruising speed in the more efficient RPM range

I was trying to figure out which one I wanted. I wound up going with the 250 just in case either of my boys want to get in to fishing as they get older. Don’t want to rule myself out of any tournaments.

If I were looking at a 300, I would be looking at the 300R.

Did you get a 250 or a 300, the 300 knocks you out of anything BASS related but is legal in most independent western trails.

So no owners can give any input?

Bassin31, there aren’t many who can honestly speak on the comparison he is asking about. It’s a first year product and most owners would not have experienced both 250 and 300 products. It becomes opinion from a single test ride often and we respect that those opinions have significantly lower value.

I figure No one had both, just input from owners of either is what I meant.
I heard a theory, that the 300 will do better if not going wot.

It’s not a significant difference as horsepower creates performance and fuel creates horsepower.

I got an STS in July with a 300. Hole shot is good with the 23p Fury that came on it. It is sluggish full of fuel. I thought I was burning a lot of fuel, but I found the gas gauge isn’t correct. I have no idea of gph. I now run with 1/2 a tank if I’m not in a tournament and have a long run. I hit 76.5 by myself with the 23 in 84 degree water. Cold water with the 24 it’s an 80 plus mph boat.

A 300 and and 76.5? Sounds like there should be at least another 3mph in it. What RPM are you hitting?

I've heard several people say that 76 can be hit with the 250 and one person with standard fishing load.

76/77 with a 250 is achievable in right conditions. The gentleman above has too small of a prop currently for his set up. It’s better for hull shot vs top end. There is a guy running a bravo prop on a puma that is very happy with it.

Overall, Bravo props do not achieve maximum performance. They do however increase handling and hole shot in many cases.

i personally think for some people (not boats) they achieve better mph just because they are easier to drive. So I do believe that can confuse people a little.

I'm a Bravo guy, lose 2-3 mph topend but, again holeshot and much better handling. Its It's what I look for as I get older.
