With the 8 footers, you have to lower them to get them through a 7' high garage door. I suspect that 10 footers will be more difficult to store.

Depends on how you fish a lot. I have an ultrex and a single 8’ pole and I use it often, but i junk fish mostly. I keep the button on a collar around my neck or in my pocket. Sometimes when I hook a fish it’s easier to hit that button, or if I’m drifting with current or wind I may not want the boat to swing 180 if I spot lock. I use it at the docks too, handy as heck for me. I can live without but love having one. I’d vote get the 8’

I run 8's on my 11 Z521 and they work just fine. Cheaper too.
I would highly recommend getting the support plates even with the 8fters.

I removed my Atlas and 8'r's from my 520 and moved them to my Tracker. Put on a Bob's and 10'r's.
Always found that the 8' would be just shy of sticking in the water I'm fishing the 520 in.
Added Hydrilla's folding brackets. They fit in my garage but not in the portable garage doorway.
The 8's on the Tracker work fine as the rig is fine for my local shallower holes.

I swapped out the standard brackets for the braced on my 8 footers. Much more solid

I have 8' poles on my 13 521 with a Lowrance ghost and previously an ulterra. As said earlier work very well in 6' or less, 6-7 just depends. 7ft plus use the spot lock. I was debating 8' or 10' also and very glad I went with the 8's. Since you have spot lock already, I don't think that the extra 2' are worth the storage hassle and extra cost.

I had 10's on my last Ranger, 8's on this one. 8's are fine most of the time and I am glad I went smaller on this ride as there is less wobble and overall less maintenance/rebuilds of bushings. As for accessories, the drift paddles are a worthy addition for those real windy days, but I take them off most of the time when not needed.
