Batteries & chargers
I just replaced my interstate wet batteries with DEKA maintenances free batteries. I hooked up the charger same as it
was before. They new batteries were fully charged when I installed them. I turned on the charger and the lights still show RED after 4 hours of charging.
Did i do something wrong or is there a difference in the charger with maintenance free batteries???

How do you know that they were fully charged? I’ve never bought a battery that was fully charged. They always need to be topped off.
Are they still wet cell or AGM? And if AGM, is the charger set for them?
ALL batteries were tested when I bought them. They were 99% full.
They are wet cell but maintenance free.

What charger do you have and what does red mean on your charger, fully charged or bad , let's say what color are your lights before when they where fully chargedl.
OK guys… Thanks for the suggestions but my charger did the job correctly. I guess I was impatient and thought the batteries were fully charged. They just needed to be topped off and the charger did it.
ALL is good and ready to go now.

I know on my AGM it takes a looong time to go from 12 to 12.8V full charge.

If your Deka wet cells are the commercial type, then they are not really "maintenance free". You have to peel off the labels that are covering the caps to expose them so that you can check levels and add distilled water as needed if you want longevity. I have had several of those. When they are used in a commercial application, the operators simply replace them on a short term basis and do not look for a long life span. Thus, with these operators in mind, Deka puts a label over the caps and labels then "maintenance free".
