You hate to hear that, there was a fatality on Beaver lake earlier this month. Be careful out there!

I have seen some stupid behavior out on the water so it does not surprise me. Unless we are talking foggy conditions there is pretty much no excuse for something like that to happen. I guess even in fog there is no excuse as you should not even be on plane.

Not to dilute the tragedy of the situation but the reality of it is the majority of people operating smaller boats have significantly less training than a 16 year old kid with a learners permit. Look at the sheer idiocy on our roads these days and to think it’s gonna be better on the water is just not gonna happen. Some people think boat operators are like some elite fraternity of highly trained top 1%’s but the reality is much different.

Sad to hear that and that is a speed limit lake as well. I believe 55 is max allowed.

I read a different article it said the boats collided but none of the dead were wearing PFD's. In all bass tournaments I have been in one is required to wear a PFD when on plane, some even if moving slowly. Could be "yellow journalism" aimed at degrading bass fishermen. https://www.wric.com/news/local-news...oat-collision/

I think the guys in the jon boat are the ones that were not wearing pfd's and thus perished.

Just fished a tourney there last weekend….it’s an extremely small lake and there was at least 2 tournaments going out there yesterday and then factor in all of the recreational traffic because it’s so close to Richmond….sad deal
