Informational for Merc 250 Pro XS 4s guys with Sea Star steering....

Do yourself a big favor and look at both sides of the sea star cylinder where it attaches to the motor. There is 1 bolt that anchors the tab (small 5/16 head) on each side......make sure its there and tight. As well on the Port side in the same area on the steering are 1 small set screw....again make sure they are tight and not missing. When I checked mine the port side screw was ready to fall out and I am missing 1 set screw. I know guys who have had all of the above missing.

    Just an FYI.

It’s supposed to be checked every time you take the boat out…regardless of brand.

If you have to check every steering bolt every trip out then they can buy this 20,000.00 motor back....I can see every few trips, or after a rough water day...but that should not be required.

While not required it's definitely a really smart idea to do safety check on a 50+ mph boats before launching.

Had my hydraulic hose come loose after a tow, and a year after I bought it. I always check now.

Had a friend had the middle screw come out running 70. He went for a swim.
