    Spark Plug Wear

This is my 1st season w/ the '05 175 DI Evinrudes.
Again, I am very pleased w/ their performance and glad I went with my "gut-instinct" and bought these FICHTs.

Removed the Spark Plugs for inspection today, they all looked the same (see pic), however, the gapped increased from the original 0.030 to 0.040-0.045.
I'm assuming this is normal for ~60hrs running time. Expect to put an additional ~50 hrs this season.
    I cleaned 'em up, re-gapped and re-installed.

    Any thoughts/comments?

look normal from what I have seen
clean, gap to a tight .030 and index them. seems like a lot of wear for those hours to me but the gurus will know for sure!!

They don't look bad compared to my Opti 2S, but dirtier than my ol' 98 Ficht. At 60hrs assume you're way past break-in and any treated fuel. Index, use the OMC fuel conditioner and good fuel in the recommended octane - nothing higher.

Why Fuel Conditioner and not their Carbon Guard product?

I believe their conditioner is more a 'fuel storage' product to prevent against fuel degredation ...

Believe the OMC Fuel Conditioner is really good, it has a phase stabilizer in it, and maybe carbon guard.

I generally will avoid a whole lot of idling on the ficht and dfi engines to avoid this...I gap my plugs to .028 tight and will pull and check the gap during the season and regap. I do idle some using side scan. I change plugs each spring regardless of hours. As far as additives....I run Startron for the fuel every tank and the xd-100 oil ...that's it.

    I use Carbon Guard, 4oz/32gals.
And occasionally Seafoam in the Aux Tank, 1oz/gal.
    Plugs were indexed properly.
