Kudos to our local game wardens

Was on a dove field this morning that was hot! Drew the attention of the local green jeans, 2 at first followed by 4 more. (It was a big field)
Came out, did their jobs, a lot of good natured ribbing back and forth. zero citations. One young hunter forgot his plug… they gave him a warning and then helped him cut and install a temporary plug.

All the GWs I have met have been great. Had one ask for my license after getting off the water a couple of weeks ago. WE stood and talked about fishing and dogs for 30 minutes after.

Yup doves are one thing, migratory waterfowl is a different ball of wax.

We had a game warden giving out tickets for shooting teal during duck season. Got a few guys all on the same day in the same area. Fortunately the tickets were thrown out a few days later.

Our local is a completely different sort. Sits at the boat ramp on Father’s Day weekend and writes citations. Follows guys into tree stands and interrupts their hunts all for a citation. I do not know a person locally that has anything positive to say about him. Too bad really, that’s not how it was when I was younger.

What were your violations? I’ve never had a bad run in with them. When I’m fishing and see them on the lake, I always stop and talk with them. Had two game wardens load up a buck for me once on opening day of Kentucky rifle season. Now that’s public service!!

Hard to write a citation if you got everything as the law states.

Game Wardens are a special breed. Unlike most other LEOs, almost every encounter they have is with an armed person in a remote area. I have major respect for them
