Prop question for Z20 with new Merc 4 stroke

Trying to find some info for my tourney partner. He's got a 2006 Ranger Z20 and repowered last year with the 4 stroke Merc 225HP. He was running a stock 25 pitch Fury 3 blade @ 71WOT on the original 2 stroke Merc. Had a great holeshot. After repowering and using the same prop, his hole shot is really suffering and WOT is 68mph @ 5600rpm WOT. All vent holes are sealed. Will opening up a hole or two help his holeshot on the 4 stroke Merc? Anyone have any experience with this setup and a 23 or 24 pitch? Thanks in advance.

Believe most have had to drop down a pitch or two going to a 4-stroke.

    Help

A 24P 3-blade Fury or even a 23P Fury 3-blade will put him in the proper rpm range, get his top speed back up and help his hole shot.

The advice above is solid. Some venting could help.

I did the same thing on my Z19 and replaced the Merc 225 Pro XS 2-stroke with a Merc 225 Pro XS 4-stroke. I ran a Tempest 25 B&B'd by Mark Croxton on the old motor. I'm now running a Fury 23 B&B'd by Mark. I tried a Tempest 23, but the Fury had the better hole shot. The Tempest 23 is now my spare.
