    Question about chiggers

Honestly, I have never to my knowledge seen a chigger, but I have been ate up by them. Right now I'm battling what I think is them in my,....ahem... personal area. They have attacked my three piece, with the "boys" and taint most affected. I know it ain't crotch critters, nothing up front. The only relief is from Nystatin ointment and body powder, but I remember Windex used to help, but I haven't tried it there, yet.

Has anybody ever actually seen a chigger?

I’ve never seen a chigger, but they love me! Best, most consistent cure I’ve found is to get a bathtub of the hottest water you can stand and add some bleach to it. Sit in that for about 15-20 minutes and that does the trick for me every time.

Yea but they’re very small and you won’t see them unless the conditions are right. I put a white envelope on the area I thought they were at and you could see them once they climbed up it

Well I stand corrected that chiggers don't burrow in your skin so I deleted my post.

    Whether they do or don't. .. . they're still miserable little $hits

Same as the crabs........shave one side, light the other side, and stab em with an ice pick when they come running out.

If you haven't scratched and irritated the area, put a good dose of bleach in your bath water and sit in that a while. May have to do it more than once, but it will help.

Contrary to common belief, chiggers do not burrow into a host’s skin or suck blood. They pierce the skin with their sharp mouthparts and inject a digestive enzyme, disintegrating skin cells for food. Itching usually begins within 3 to 6 hours after an initial bite, followed by development of reddish areas and sometimes clear pustules or bumps. As the skin becomes red and swollen, it may completely envelop the feeding chigger, making it appear that the chigger has burrowed into the host’s skin. Itching typically peaks at 24 to 48 hours after chigger bites occur, but redness and itching may persist for a week or more for some people.

    Take from my post above.

Chiggers don't burrow into your skin, the are pretty much just really small ticks.

After bite used liberally on the bite then tequila taken internally works well.
