Thought for sure it was gonna be another giant smallie from Dworshak.

The PNW is kind of an untapped area for catfishing. I know some of our lakes/rivers have them, but almost nobody fishes for them.

I grew up in the PNW, spent a decent amount of time in Idaho, and never met a dedicated cat fisherman. I’ve heard of drinking trips to shore fish cats, but never hardcore guys. Guessing the records up here would be attainable for someone that knows what they are doing.

Ky has a little longer growing season than Idaho.

    Here is the article: https://amp.idahostatesman.com/outdo...264673544.html
we have a very short grow season here, CJ freezes over in the winter. I found it interesting FnG classified it a Blue as they are not a known species in our water. Great bi-catch and I find it awesome the angler released it.

It more than likely is, which is interesting. First official blue caught is a record. I wonder if FnG will start listing more blue cats in places they thought that only had channels.

ISnt there a big difference with their anal fins. Seems like I remember thats a way to tell them apart.

ya the anal rays count is how you tell the difference ; that part of the country is known for big channels but blues are making their way too. The snake river has some toad channels.
