    Dead Sea

Oh no, my rock salt is going to expire in 2027 according to the imprint.

While I'm aware most BBCers tend to eat bacon 4 years after the date.
Thought to actually post this information for everyone on other stuff.
ONLY shelf stable items are included here, nothing refrigerated/frozen.

The list is courtesy of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

I think you are correct. We have had some that turned to sugar. Warmed it up and returned to its natural state ( well withou the wax comb ).

Great information! We kind of Prep. Not necessarily for any one reason but just in case. Short term emergencies happen all the time somewhere. Long term has happened in the past and still can take place. I always wondered if there was a more real life table on expected safe consumption of foods. Gonna keep this one. Thanks

We do stock rotation constantly. Keeping dates current.
However, if the SHTF we're going to be good for awhile.
Currently, we're deeper than normal, just to save cash.

If I adhered to that list I'd have some empty shelves in my pantries. If it looks bad or smells bad I don't use it. I guess I better make some spaghetti. I'm overdue in my noodles and sauce by a lot.

I would say that is a true statement. We are using honey that my wife's great uncle jar'd sometime in the 90's. He had bees, and his basement was stocked with honey. He passed away summer of 2000, and we got prolly 25-30 jars of his honey. Still eating it to this day, every time my wife makes her homemade biscuits. Also good for homemade honey bbq sauce.

I am glad to see they say water's shelf life is indefinite. I had started a thread on this a back in 2018.
