Do you all use a master cut off for your TM?

I have a breaker on my TM but when I am not using the boat much I always just turn the breaker off.
I have heard that this can be bad for a breaker to be turned on and off so had thought of putting a master switch in before the breaker just to disconnect power but wasn't sure if it was really worth the extra effort.

I use a Blue Sea Switch/Breaker. It is designed to be both.

I thought about this too, so I just bought a couple spare breakers from TH Marine and keep them handy. They seem as easy to change out
as a Master which I had to take apart to replace my Atlas Trim relay I have on the Cranking Battery. So I keep spares of both actually for emergency
    repairs.

I have BOTH. But I just turn off the main switch, not the one on the 60 amp breaker. You should never charge the TM batteries with the switch ON, I've done that for forever ! Some guys just unplug the TM in the front. I would think that over time flipping off the breaker would weaken it, maybe, IDK. JMHO

I started using the cut off breaker a couple years ago. Gives me the extra piece of mind while charging

These newer motors are a lot more sensitive to charging, I bet the install manual for your Force says to use a breaker/switch.

Well you are one of the lucky one. Because keeping the power to the troll motor while charging battery has known to cause issues with I-pilot controllers. Some chargers have fried and or caused issues with the I-pilot controllers and main control boards.
As stated by some a switch breaker is what you need. Keep It simple.

Always used the breaker. They aren’t terribly expensive in the grand scheme of things and I’ve never had to replace one so will continue doing this.

My boat is a 2008 and I’ve got two breakers - main and TM circuit. I always turn the breakers off when the boat is sitting and not in use and especially when I’m charging the batteries. Zero problems with this approach.

ALL power should be cut before plugging in your onboard charger period. Either a breaker or switch but do not charge with power still running to trolling motor, anchors, electronics, boat itself, etc. Backfeed can occur harming sensitive electric boards in todays modern accessories.

I had one of the Blue Sea switch/breakers combos 06SB linked, but it was about 6 years sold, so for peace of mind I replaced it. For some reason instead of getting another Blue Sea I bought a Minn Kota 60amp breaker, not realizing it does not have a manual switch - it's just a breaker and reset lever when tripped. So, it's currently installed but have ordered another Blue Sea switchable to replace it, and I'll just keep the MK as a spare.

I added a switch before the breaker. I don’t like using a breaker as a switch.
