Last time I fished it was the early 80’s and we launched at Sutton’s Bay. Lot of people have no idea at the expanse of that river. Course we were targeting the eye’s.

The area around Suttons bay will play. but the lake is fished based forage, not a crawfish lake. Lake is a good 15 feet below where they fished last time. I would be leery of anyone in a tin boat. Last walleye derby they had out of Mobridge a couple weeks back was tough on the boats. TM's and graphs were ripped off boats. I really hope the wind behaves for the derby. John Cox will do OK if he targets the 55 LM that are in the lake.

52 of them 55 LMB are way up in the Cheyene river timber and grass. Doubt anyone goes that far.

I marshaled for Jason Christie last time they went to Oahe, he was picking off fish with a topwater using Livescope! His biggest regret on day 3 was that he hadn't made himself find more spots like the few he was fishing. I was really impressed with him, both as a pro and a person.

I forgot he made the Championship for the pro circuit. Anyone heard what his plan is? Can't fish both I don't believe.

He's not listed in either bucket, so I'd say he skipped it.

he skipped the championship. Bass rules state you have to fish everyday you’re qualified for to be eligible for the classic (unless you receive a medical exemption or it’s approved by the TD). He petitioned for an exemption and it was denied, so he is missing the championship just to keep the Classic qualification active.

yesterday’s bass talk live podcast talked about it a bit.

Going to be won "moping" as the northerners call it. BP, Johnstons, Gussy, in the top 5. Too many people I don't know now, and I'm betting a few will find something good and sneak in. IIRC BP finished decent last time just moving around and picking almost lone suspended fish off, and that was before FFS.

The farther north the better, and any one using a DS is a fool fishing for 50th.

Jason could have a good chance, along with BP, Jay, Austin Felix, and the Canadian fleet. Tako shouldn’t be overlooked as a contender either, we know he runs smallmouth Disneyland and I know he’s spent some time learning the lake in the off season.
I sure hope the weather plays nice for the anglers and the marshals sake, looking forward to it.

That is a good point did Christie fish the north end at all? The north is a different animal, going to be fun to watch. I love the state park there,

I think some of those guys that fish the off shore spotted bass fisheries will do ok. Seems to be similar.

Winds at 15-25mph strait out of the North tomorrow and Friday. Sounds like they are going to have a really terrible time.
