    Savage 220 Scope

There was a thread here discussing the Savage 220 slug gun… but cant seem to find it.

For those shooting this gun what scope are you using? I tried a Vortex Diamondback I had laying around but the crosshairs lose center with every shot… sending it in to be checked.

Looking for something to dedicate to this gun.

While we’re at it… What do y’all think of the Hornady SST…. Only ammo I can find right now.

I have a Cabela's (forget what model) shotgun scope. Seems to do the trick for under $100

Look at the Hawke slug gun scope. Lifetime warranty.
I have on my REMINGTON 870 SPS SUPERSLUG and it has held up.

Ditto……love that scope and the price makes it that much better.

I have had that Cabelas slug gun scope on my 870 20ga for at least 10 years now. No issues. I shoot the Hornady SST as well.

    Thanks for the inputs..
Ended up going with the Hawke scope… can’t beat the warranty, really like it so far. Also found some 2 3/4 Accutips and Federal 3” Premiums, both grouping very well. 1” and 1.5” groups at 100 yards. Tried the Hornadys again and I had a hard time keeping them on paper, 11” groups at best… weird.

Late to this one so I’ll skip my optic recommendation. Sounds like you’ve got a shooter, congrats. Got a question though. What slugs did Savage recommend with your particular gun? Mine is phenomenal with 3” Remington Accutips.

The manual with my Savage only recommends Accutips without specifying the length.

Good deal. Their recommendations are usually dead on.

2&3/4 Accutips with a Nikon Slugmaster. Very pleased as they go down quick.
