No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

the price is going down because there's less DEMAND, folks are not driving nearly as much because they have a bad habit..............they enjoy eating, eat or put fuel in your car, its as simple as that, not to mention heating and cooling your homes, inflation is killing us slowly and will for a long ass time

$3.29 here as well. Trip to the lake mid-week cost $32 in truck gas; same trip was $18 in 2019, for reference, but $48 a few weeks ago. Diesel still above $5 a gallon most places.

Unless I'm mistaken, it was low quality, a PITA and they struggled to make enough due to process requirements.
And, there's no doubt, they lost. Considering our massive addiction, it would be simply impossible. 21M bpd here.

I'm not a psychic, but I'd pull the trigger now. Odds of it dropping vs rising ... you'll lose.

Under current inflation adjusted costs, ~ $3.15, or higher, as a national average for profitability.

We need to remember, the US is the largest producer. Takes ~ $80 to keep moving forward here.
    $80/42+transport+refining/blending+storage+transport+storage+transport+retai ling = GP only.

Anything lower than ~ $80 per barrel and the investment will stop, things will start leaving here.
We need the US economy to continue moving forward, plus conservation to become an exporter.
Total Bullshit!!! The oil companies in the states were making plenty of money producing oil here at $40 barrel...

In what decade? It's not just laying up top now begging out.
Even injection process into the basins is taking 10X the water.

Transportation, refining, blending and storage, all very costly.
Crude has become a lesser factor over the years, much less.

If we do see $2.00, or even $2.50, the US is going to suffer.
