Post High School/Middle School Fishing - New Season Begins

To anyone interested, especially in the Eastern half of the State, the new season for High/Middle School fishing begins in September/October. This is the BASS affiliated trail where currently we have 6 teams competing for the National Championship beginning tomorrow on Lake Hartwell. You can watch the weigh in on the bassmaster site tomorrow beginning at 2:30pm.

Last month, middle school teams from Fuquay and Wilson competed in the Junior Series (up to eighth grade) in Tennessee. The Fuquay team actually finished 10th overall!

Last season the East Trail averaged around a dozen boats per tournament whereas in the West it has grown to average around 65! We would really like to see the East grow to 30 or more this year. In the East, they will be fishing both rivers and lakes, so there is something for everyone. This is a great opportunity to get your young angler involved in very competitive tournaments at a minimal cost. More details and the Fall schedules can be found at: www.nchighschoolfishing.com

You can also get involved in being a boat captain/volunteer at tournaments, just reach out. One note, boat captains are not allowed to fish in these tournaments, but teaching and coaching young anglers can be very rewarding. Most who volunteer to help come back to help out again.

Thanks to all and please share this information. If you have a bass club, it is a great place to start and support a youth program. If your school is not interested, there are community clubs to join or start one on your own. There are counties now where rival high schools have joined together and have up to 40+ members fishing! Contact us or message me here. We will help you get started!

Moving to the top as a reminder for those who want to be involved, or who may know youth that want to fish. The website has been updated with the tournament dates and locations for the Fall. Please contact me if you have questions.

    Thank you.
