    Brand new Suzuki 150 Super Six...from 1986!

On Ebay right now is the above motor that has been sitting in a showroom since 1986. I think they're asking around $6k. Would you risk it?... 😀

I had a 200 one time it was a solid solid motor. I think that was its down fall....it never broke.

Is it from West Michigan by chance? Just saw a handful still in crates a few weeks back at a estate sale at old marina.

Edit- Just checked and it is from the same estate sale I was at. It definitely wasn’t from the showroom like the eBay listing said, the guy was a massive hoarder and had like a 1000 old outboards throughout 9 old buildings. Took the guys running it like a month of cleaning and moving booby traps out of the way to even get it to where you could walk into the buildings. They had maybe 5 still in the crate when I was there and the guy running the thing said he had been getting 5-6k for them.

no expert here but the shaft length looks short...probably just the perspective.

If you got the bucks to feed it gas, that's a good price for 150 honest horsepower. There are supply issues no doubt. If it's the Super Six it was a 12 spark plug motor.

Ahhh, what the hell, i bought it at the Craigslist cost of $5500. Smallie Nation, you are spot on. Located in Grand Haven. The old man that died had a bunch of crate engines everywhere! Evidently he owned several dealerships over the years.

I bought a 1986 Nitro built in Texas with a 1986 Super Six. That was when Nitro was an independent company. I blew away the Bumblebee with 150 Mercury Max and Evinrude loop motors. Back then there were no rules about advertising horsepower . That motor was close to 175 hp. My top end was around 73 but no GPS back then. However after about four years the oil pumped failed and seized the motor.

    Bought the 150

20230420_124310_resized.jpgLast month I bought the 150 Super Six on Ebay that was from Grand Haven, MI for $7500. We watched it start and run on the stand, loaded it up in the pickup and brought it home. Mechanic put it on the boat Thursday. Scheduled to have him hook up the controls mid May. Wil let ya'all know how it goes.

I forgot to add that he still has one 150 and two 200. I still have to do the 10 hour break in. Does anyone know what RPM I should be at WOT? Only got the control installation book, throttle control with cables and 2 gauges.

My fishing buddy bought a new Skeeter with the 150 on it in 86. It would die every time he put it in gear until it was warmed up. Ran good after it that. The dealer never could fix that.

So how did it turn out? Hopefully you didn't purchase a big headache.

That is a beautiful motor. If you can't find a manual, break it in gently, and after it gets about 4 hours, I'd make varying speed accellerations and not do long speed high or steady rev driving.
There are those that say run it like you stole it. I don't agree with that. It's a Japanese made product, they were well into statistical process control by then and it should last you aproximately forever if treated properly. I hope you can afford to feed it.
    Keep us in touch.

p.s. is it the 12 plug motor?
