    1999 Johnson Venom cold start

Motor won't start when cold. When it does start it's good for the day. Choke solenoid was changed and started fine for a while but recently went back to what it was prior. If I tip up the red lever it starts right up. Any ideas on what the issue is?

Primer solenoid clicking when you push the key in? I know ya said it was replaced Paul....try pulling the line off the carbs and verifying fuel is actually getting thru to the carbs....

It's a friend of mine who's having the issues. He primes the bulb first and still won't start. He's working on replacing main fuel line and the lines coming from the solenoid to the cylinders.

    Try this ...

    1) Pump bulb firm

    2) Turn key to ON, but not to crank

    3) Push IN on key to activate the primer solenoid and count S-L-O-W to 4 or 6

    4) Release key from IN and turn to CRANK

    5) She should fire right up!

FYI, OBs are like individual women ... youse gots to find out what THEY like to turn them on ...

Another test is, while the motor is running, advance the throttle to about 1200 rpm then push in and hold the key in for several seconds. If it is working correctly the engine will stumble and slow down as it will be running too rich because of the primer solenoid being activated.
