    Wedges

How many of you use the 2 degree wedges with the 300R on XB21's? Does it help your planning time with tourney loads?
    Advantages and disadvantages?

I haven't run mine without the wedges, but I think I would want them back. I can run over 2" above the pad, 250lb partner, big tackle load, full well and still not porpoise at lower speeds with the engine tucked. Holeshot is no problem that high even fully loaded. I run a lot of shallow areas on our river and very rough stumpy lakes. I gives me piece of mind keeping it that high in the sketchy areas.

Hammerhead, what prop and setup you running and what year model boat? Mine is a 2003 year model XB21 2+2 which has the .085" pad lip. I have 11.5" off setback, running a 32 pitch Max 5 SST.

    What gear ratio?
I have the 250R which only comes in the 1.75-1 gears. No wedge
Only run a 30 Max 5 but it comes out of the hole with a FULL tournament load very well.

Great question and thread. This is the one thing I am not thrilled about with my set up. I have tried 3 props so far, 32 pro max, 30 pro max, and 32 Bravo 1 with flare trimmed, blades thinned, and labbed. The Bravo is the best hole shot of the 3 but not great.

I do not have wedges but have thought about installing them. Also, I'm only running 1.5" above the pad so far and have not raised it higher.

What PSI do you have at 2" above?

BlueallyXB21 - Curious what spacer and jack-plate combination is giving you 11.5" of setback. My ProSport came factory with 9.5" and I added additional 2" spacers for a total of 11.5". My hole shot is better with 9.5", so I've since removed the 2" spacers. I also have the factory skid planer, along with the Allison foil on my lower unit. I do not have wedges.

Weren't the preferred wedges neg 2 degree? Seems like that's what my new BasSport Pro was rigged with in 2008...

PSM207, I have a 6" extension and the original 5.5" CMC hydro-jackplate for the 11.5" of set-back. I am running the original skid planner with a minor modification. I am updating to the newest skid planner this week for testing. I do not have the Allison foil .

Fishnfireman, I am running the 1.75 gears on the sportmaster case.

2011 XB21. SHO with sporty and 1.62 gear. 26 Hydromotive. 7.5-8 inch setback. I also run a 28 Bravo that runs very similar to the Hydromotive and has a little better holeshot, but not any more top end.

I run all lithium batteries, 2X 100AH in the rear passenger side storage (factory location). Cranking battery located in front of the fuel tank slightly towards the drivers side (again factory location). These are where the batteries have been every since I owned the boat (new), even with lead acid the my little 225X with a 26 pitch hydromotive OB prop would plan off very well, the 300R with this 32 pitch Max 5 is very slow out of the hole for some reason.

In Kentucky, typically around ~683 ft. above sea level. Could be to much prop,
but it seems to be what most are running on these setups. I haven't tried anything else yet.

That's alot of blade surface area and a lot of pitch both. Don't think I would try to fish on that one.

I am curious, what props are most of you all running on a XB21 2+2 with the 300R with all lithium's and tourney load?

BlueallyXB21, I run either a 30" max 5, or a 31.5" 4 blade Hyperdrive. The Hyperdrive vents too much to run with a full load, but man is it fun running light. I generally fish with the Max 5.

I have the 21' BasSport instead of the 2+2 and the 30 Max5 is what I use.

As I mentioned in an earlier post above, I have a 30 pro max, 32 pro max, and a worked 32 Bravo 1 for my xb21 bassport pro / 300R combo. So far, I like the bravo best for holeshot and handling but the 32 pro max has been the fastest. The 30 pro max is the happy medium for me with tournament loads in south alabama heat.

I have not ran a max 5 but it sounds like I need to get one.
