I think your SI is too "Hot" and washed out - white edges. I would play with the contrast. That hard, rocky bottom reflects a lot energy back.

Cool pics. I do agree on the "hot" but the boat shows up well.

I attached a pic of some bait balls as well. You can see how the bait alls really pop with the bottom not being blown out.

Can you show me some side imaging images that aren’t “too hot”. Just want to compare to mine

Many times, when fishing along a sloping bottom, one side will be hot and the other side will be too dim. Some people aren't aware that, on the Solix, Apex, and I assume Helix, there is a SI Sensitivity Offset setting which allows you to offset the Sensitivity of the left side by a +/- range. This allows you to get a very consistent sensitivity on both sides when on a sloping shoreline. I am constantly tweaking this offset setting as I troll.

What you want is the bottom dark enough so the lighter returns from fish are not washed out.
This has a school of 3#-5# bass. The right side where the fish were is shallower than the left side so the bottom is recorded brighter. And I was using the MEGA 360 for Side Imaging.

for mega 360 side imaging, can that be used while stationary? or do you have to be moving 2-6 mph?

What are the pros and cons you find between the transom side imaging versus mega 360 side imaging?

I have not used the 360 side imaging yet.

The original and MEGA 360 are rotating Side Imaging transducers. When selected to perform SI they stop rotating, orient the two SI piezos left and right (home), and they perform exactly like a Side Imaging transducer.

Imaging of any kind has to move so the sonar pulses scan. ANY movement as long as there is movement.

Humminbird units are adjustable for Chart Speed so for the best images to scale you match the Chart Speed to the GPS Speed.
There are 10 speed settings that cover physical scanning from .1 mph to about 12 mph.
Slower setting than the GPS speed compresses the images and faster setting than GPS speed stretches the images.
