    Reprop a Rebuilt HPDI?

I recently had my 05 VZ250TLRD on my Skeeter rebuilt (all cylinders) due to losing compression in one of the cylinders (original piston ring pin worked itself out). After completing the break in period I can no longer reach the same rpm and speed with the same prop. I am currently only able to achieve 5500 rpms at 63 mph. I used to be able to reach 5900/6000 at 68/69. I have raised and lowered the hydraulic jackplate to see if that was making a difference but 5500/63 is the best. Currently using a 26P Croxton Razor 4XL. I did buy a brand new one (in 26P) to use with the rebuild before I got it back because the old one was getting pretty thin and a blade was cracked at one point (repaired by Mark). Both 26P turn the same speeds slower speeds. The new one just carries the load higher on the jackplate (new one could run with good water pressure up to .5" below pad - old one is around 1.5").

After finding out I cannot get to the speed previously I have gone back and replaced the spark plugs, the secret filters, the lift pumps, and the rest of the fuel filters. With no change.

Do I really just need to reprop due to the rebuild? I just dont want to be reproping and hiding some other issue.

Or are there any other suggestions? The rebuild was also done by one of the most recommend rebuilders on BBC.

I would give it some more time. The rings might not be seated well yet. I would run it hard at high rpm for extended periods before you change props. You could do a leak down and compression to confirm if the rings are seated, or there are other possible issues but I would not bother until I had at least another 10 - 20 hours of hard running on it.

What’s the rebuilder say? I, personally, would not have been happy with these rebuild results.
