    Savage High Country

Anyone have any experiences with it? Thoughts?

It’s a Savage. I have every expectation it will shoot great. Owned several Savages over the years, and all were good shooters. Currently have a Model 11 in the safe in 6.5 Creedmoor that shoots under 1/2 MOA with factory ammo.

One of the best shooting rifles straight out of box, especially for the money.

Savages a ugly and feel cheap but they are usually good shooters. At least the 110s are.

i think some of the higher end Savages are great looking rifles but I agree most of the “110” models seem cheap n are ugoos

I have a Savage 116 Bear Hunter in 300 win mag. That thing is cantankerous. I have tried all sorts of powder and bullet combinations and still not quite satisfied. I have one load with 150 gr pill and H4350 that is decent and a 200 eld-x with rl22 that is decent. By decent, about an inch group at 100. My other savages, mostly rimfire are tack drivers.

My contact at Buds says this rifle has gone up in price and they’re giving over $900 to the supplier. I was hoping to stay around $800, may consider the Timberline model since there seem to very little difference or the Ruger American and swapping out the stock for a Boyd’s.

Buy a bare bones 110 and put a Boyd’s stock on one of those and you will have a really nice utilitarian setup.

There’s a thought, I may do that and save a few bucks. The last American I bought had to be sent back for an extractor/magazine issue so I’m not that keen on their quality with the lower end models after that.
