    Won't come up on plane

    I have a 2004 225 vmax 3.1L efi
When I went out the other day the motor would Idle fine but wouldn't get up on plane. I had this issue with a mercury once and it was the primer bulb but thats not the problem here. I pulled the cowling to start checking on fuel lines, filters etc. I noticed a red wire with a female connector hanging out of the rear of the motor it looks to a thremo sensor. I found a green wire with the matching male connector laying in the bottom of the housing. My question is two fold do these wire go together and if this is a thremo sensor with it not connected could be giving a false reading and keep the motor from coming up on plane. I was going to post pictures but I don't know how to do that from my phone.

Update on my own post. IT is the knock sensor, question remains if it not connected will it keep the motor from coming up on plane?
