    Help with Lithium

In the last month I ordered a Ionic 12 volt 125ah lithium battery from DrewCraft to be used specifically for my Hummingbirds while still using my Odyssey 31 for the Merc 250 four stroke, PP, and the other standard boat electronics. I wanted the Lithium 125Ah because when I had the Hummingbirds paralleled to the AGM, I was running into low voltage issues on them. My Hummingbirds consist of four 12" Solix's and a 360. I went fishing for the first time yesterday since the 125 ah install and in 4 hrs the battery was at 66%. I put the units on standby when not in use and I have the brightness at 8 vs 10. If I were to fish 12 hrs there is a possibility I could run out of power with these numbers.

Would I be better off getting rid of the Odyssey and using the new 125ah for starting the Mercury and all my electronics and getting the benefit of the Mercury recharging the 125 ah while it's running? Thanks for any feedback.

Check it out over in the Mercury forum. I am fairly sure, Mercury does not recommend using a Lithium. But Don can answer your question. (Include your motor's serial number in your question.)

Steve send me a screen shot of the app with everything turned on 125ah 910-722-0001

4 12" solix alone could be pulling 10amps when all on, thats 12hours to zero charge so at 4 hours your % is close but that done account for standby but the other stuff will be pulling a few amps

also you mentioned the first time, the battery will perform better after about 3 cycles, that first charge you will not get as much out of it

I got your email and replied

You may want to try a Yandina combiner from the Odyssey to the 125ah IONIC, it will charge the IONIC from the outboard , I have them on my website

Tell us more about the Yandina combiner. I assume it charges the connected lithium when the on board charger is plugged in as well.

Ron are you running a fair amount of electronics on your boat?
