Do not think Mercury changed their voltage regulation for Lithium battery use.
What you said helps me understand what is stated on a Sticky Post on the Mercury 4 Stroke forum. They referred to Mercury service bulletins from 2021 that say Mercury does not approve of lithium starting batteries for their engines, and only reccommends AGM starting batteries. I just learned a little more about batteries.

Ahhhhh, back to the old motor charging systems and lithium batteries.
Some day we might get them all to work together to charge a switch to lithium.

Most engine alternators are at 14.5 volts +or- .2 or 3.

You were getting a huge voltage drop before. I suspect your improvement is related to the dedicated wiring and preservation of voltage above 12v and not to the 16v per se. I have been able to see a jerkbait up to 80ft and ned at 70+ since the OG software on my helix 9 with a tracker lithium 12v battery. Voltage reads from 12.8 to 13.2

Yeah, I suspect that the same results would have happened with a 12V Lithium that Phoenix Jim is seeing with the 16V. Any voltage drop below 12V has significant negative impact on Solix. The fact that Lithium batteries are 12+ or 16+ volts for the entire discharge cycle is a big benefit for Solix and Apex users.

Well humminbird referred me to page 19 of the mega live manual where it states must be hooked up to 12 volt battery. Guess I’ll take it back to my installer to hook it to my cranking battery

Maybe connect the mega live itself to the cranker and your units to the 16v.

I detect some inconsistency in the Humminbird story... Hmmm?

Would this also be the case for Mega 360? I haven't looked at the specs...

That should do it. That setup will last almost as long as the boat, darn sure outlast the Mercury.
