Gas tank builds pressure. When opening the cap it blows air like opening a coke bottle. I had a vent on my older 1995 Stratous. Is this cap made to vent and may be faulty? Gas tank building pressure just doesn’t seem right. I didn’t mean to double picture but didn’t know how to take one off. Anyone seeing this? Thanks
It’s normal. Scared me to death first time I opened mine.

You can thank your EPA for that little gem. Gas tank caps are no longer allowed to vent fumes. Hence the new caps and the demand valves on all boats. Open slowly is the best advise and don't stand in front of it.

What year boat? Only late model boats have the carbon canister system for fuel.

My cap has shot off like a rocket a couple times when opening it. Doesn't seem to lose its seal until at the end of the threads. It's a game I play every time I pull the cap off, lol.

Treat others like you want to be treated when on the water EVEN WHEN IN A TOURNAMENT! No fish is worth having a confrontation because you cut someone off or came in on top of someone.
Same cap on my nitro, and ya it sometimes blows air when you crack it. Never have had gas shoot out though.
