I have a 1999 175EFI.....I did read through the common questions on spark plug gaps but still wasn't clear what the gap should be for new plugs....I have BR8HS10 NGK plugs to go in....Thanks in advance...

Need to post your serial number so we can know exactly what motor you have and the spark plug specs. My 2002 Mercury takes BPZ8HS-10 spark plugs at .04” or 1 mm, not sure for you but can be looked up with serial number.
