Has Anyone Installed a Fuel/Water Separator in an AVX

So I wound up with some water in the fuel tank of my 1880. Most likely from storing it 1/2 full in our humid Indiana weather.

The fuel/water separator on my Zuk DF115 did its job and alarmed when it got to high level.

I got to thinking a larger remote and drainable on should be installed. I started roaming the interweb and that seemed to be the consensus.

Moonlighter over on the Suzuki Motor Forum recommended this one https://www.brownspoint.com/store/pc...r-22p63753.htm

I’m looking for installation ideas from those who may have already installed similar. TIA, Keith

    I haven’t done one YET.
The rear compartment is wide open. The hardest part will be finding and taping into the fuel line.

On my 1880 the fuel line from the tank comes out of the starboard bulkhead where the main power switch and starting/accessory battery breaker is mounted. It the runs to the squeezy bulb (sorry for the over the top technical terminology ) then from the bulb back into the same bulkhead. So easy to find that.

I’m pretty sure you could mount it to the same bulkhead but proximity to all that electrical stuff doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy. I’ll look a little closer tomorrow.

BigEasy, my AVX1880 came with a fuel/water separator already installed. I can take a picture of the bilge area for you to see, but not sure how to load on this site.

If you’ll be kind enough to take a pic I’ll pm you my contact information. After you send it I’ll post it up here for others to see in the future.

Thanks very much to Boat4life for the photos. And here they are for others to reference. Looks like a special bracket. I don’t think my boat has that, I’ll have to verify later today.

Why do they always mount that filter against the transom were is hard to get too. So many other places that are easier to get too.

Yeah I’m not a fan of that location, even if it is factory installed. I don’t like the idea of drilling in to structural members.

I think that I will hang mine on the starboard bulkhead where the X is in this pic.

I’ll relocate the circuit breaker up under the compartment hatch like the TM breaker

Then move the main power switch to where the main breaker was

I agree, your suggestion is a much better spot in my opinion. I actually considered moving mine, but hadn't decided where yet. Your suggestion may be the best for easy access.

The lip your breaker switch is mounted to would be ideal.
