    Rt198 setup

Buddy of mine has a 2019 RT198 with a 150 SHO on it. It has 1 power pole. He bought it with a 22p tempest. Boat has great hole shot but at speed and trim if you even think about turning it looses bite. The motor is mounted to the transom. Can someone tell me what hole youre in or a good prop to pad measurement for this setup. I just feel like it's too high.

What height? Most of these boats with no JP do well in hole#3.

    Hole 3 from which direction?...lol
Forgive my ignorance if there's a standard direction for counting motor holes.

Your motor is mounted at the top in hole #3.

I would guess that the slip is caused by the prop. My new Tempest came on the boat did the same as you describe. Sent it to Croxton and he said there was almsot not cupping to the blades like it should have had from the factory. He said it was unfortunately common for props installed on some new boats. He added cup to the edges and tip and it is like I have a new boat!

My motor on my 2021 RT198P is a Merc. I run it between 4-4.5" prop to pad. I would start at that height once your verify the condition of your prop. You can slowly sneak up on the mounting height if your have plenty of water pressure and grip.

Good luck and enjoy your boat.

Thanks for the replies. Im pretty sure the SHO motor has 4 holes. I'll have him check his P2P measurement.

Also is there a jackplate recommendation for these boats?

    6" manual works well

Every picture I can find of the vmax SHO shows 4 mounting holes. Again I may be wrong cause it's my buddies boat and the motor isn't in front of me. I will ask him to confirm..
